Wilson Bickford was such a great teacher and would share his talent with anyone that was interested.
Wilson Bickford was an artist. He was an ACI, who everyone loved. Wilson Bickford went on to host his own PBS show at WPBS, Watertown, NY. Wilson Bickford had his own line of oil paints and brushes through Jerry’s Artarama. And he had his own instructor certification program. Wilson held to a rigorous class schedule in New York, along with his schedule to work with WPBS to produce oil painting instructional shows. He also authored a book on painting with acrylic paint. He painted in watercolors as well.
Wilson Bickford traveled across the country from New York to teach a class for us here on the west coast at Colonial County Club in March 2017 . The students from Southern California, who attended were so happy to meet and learn from him. He will be sorely missed.
Not only was Wilson an accomplished artist, he was a wonderful musician and singer. He had his own classic rock band which performed regularly in the Upstate New York area.

David June Wrote: Today dawned cold and gray, and normally I welcome this weather and the mood it sets for me.
But not today. This man, Wilson Bickford passed away last night after contracting COVID 3 weeks ago.
Willie was a very kind mentor to me. He was and is such an inspiration. He’s the reason I began teaching painting. He spent literally hours on the phone with me, imparting so much knowledge and experience about his classes, totally free of charge. Even though we didn’t know each other that well, I always felt a certain kinship to him, like a brother.
My prayers for his very sweet wife Glenda, and their family.
Gail wrote: With a truly heavy heart I say farewell to a beautiful person today. 💔 Wilson Bickford you were an inspiration to me when I myself needed inspiring. I’d been through some rough times in my life and you lifted me up. You gave me the insight to see the beautiful things in life were still there and the drive to carry forward and put them down on canvas once again. I thank you for that. Thank you for putting some of my broken pieces back together again.
Prayers to Glenda who will have to carry on without you physically in her life knowing you will be with her always in her heart. Any, Alex & Lauren the same wish goes out to you. Lauren I hope you will continue painting as you share his talent. God be with you in this hard time. It will be rough this year especially during the holidays. Try not to dwell on the sadness but remember the happiness Wilson brought to so so many people. Share in that happiness. He was loved and inspired so many. May peace find your hearts soon.
