Tributes: Camberwell Hockey Family wrote: Dear Wellers family,

Today we lost one of our most wonderful family members, Steve Laussen, Junior Chair. Known to so many at the club and through hockey in Victoria, Steve passed away suddenly overnight Saturday from a heart attack.

He leaves behind wife Sarah-Jo and children Ella, William and Henry. We have expressed our great sadness and condolences to the family on behalf of our community.

There has been an outpouring of shock, grief and sorrow across our community as we try to come to grips with the loss of a kind, considerate, quiet and gentle man. A man dedicated to the task and a man who went way beyond expectations.

As arrangements are made, we will keep you informed. The masters summer competition will be paying their respects tomorrow night as we come together to remember a dedicated club person.

Other opportunities to remember Steve will be communicated when details are known. In the meantime, please reach out to each other and the family connections in support.

Regards,

Simon Winter
President

Steve had long been involved with Point Leo SLSC, having been a Nipper dad for Ella, Will and Henry, imparting his knowledge and expertise as an activity leader for numerous years, competition age group manager, assistant age group manager, nipper trailer transporter, adult bronzy and patroller.

Steve was always willing to help, full of encouragement and had time for every person on the beach. From supplying numerous lengths of chain to try and fix the swim can in place to replacing the tank for the running of the IRB motors, to name a few.
The only person to ever speak ill of Steve was himself, describing his swimming ability somewhat akin to a rock and keeping this in mind he was able to gain his adult bronze later in his time at Leo and then set a great example patrolling with the Legends patrol.

Point Leo SLSC has well and truly lost a champion bloke who has always been there for his kids and ours. Our thoughts and love go out to Sarah Jo, Ella, Will and Henry. Message written by Nick Woods
