Poverty Alleviation: FG Gives N20,000 Grant To 2,900 Persons In FCT. – Explained!

The Federal Government has distributed a one-off allowance of N20,000 to 2900 poor and vulnerable individuals inside the Federal Capital Territory.

Addressing journalists after the flag-off ceremony in Abuja, the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, Sadiya Umar Farouq, acknowledged the Vulnerable Group Programme is an enlargement of the National Social Investment Scheme.

The scheme goals to help and elevate a million Nigerians out of poverty by way of 2030.

The 2,900 beneficiaries have been picked out from throughout the six space councils in Abuja.

“It is going to be replicated in all the other states of the federation,” Farouq mentioned.

“We are flagging off with FCT now and we will hold with the other states in the subsequent weeks to come.”

“This is a program below the National Social Investment Program, an initiative of President Muhammadu Buhari to assist the poor of our residents.

“This is N20,000 is to be accepted by vulnerable agencies, a one-off allowance. And it is for them to begin some small, petty buying and selling or they may add to their capital.” the Hon Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, and Disaster Management and Social Development, Sadiya Umar Farouq, added.

According to the Ministry on their Facebook web page “in line with President Buhari’s social inclusion, 70% of the total number of beneficiaries is for women while 30% is for the youths. In addition, about 15% of the total number of beneficiaries is specially allocated to a segment of the population with special needs, including Persons with Disabilities, Internally Displaced and senior citizens in the FCT.”
