Mary Louise Willioughby Death – We are highly devastated to announce the death of Mary Louise Willioughby who tragically passed away on December 26, at the age of 84 at Woodland Hospice House of Mt. Pleasant.

Mary Louise Willioughby Obituary isn’t officially released.

Mary Louise Willioughby Lou was born June 3, 1937 the daughter of Elmer and Ann (McDonald) Thering. She married Lyle Willoughby November 26, 1960. They enjoyed traveling and for more than 50 years spent time at Millecoquins Lake in the U.P. and spent over 20 years wintering at Mesa, AZ. Through their travels, they made many lifelong friendships.

They always volunteered for the Maple Syrup Festival serving coffee. Mary Lou taught for nearly 30 years, most of which was at Winn Elementary. She enjoyed vegetable gardening, canning, and was exceptional at baking pies. She was very involved at St. Leo’s Catholic Church.

Mary Lou is survived by her husband Lyle; 3 children Robert J. “Buford” (Janet) Willoughby of Shepherd, Rodney (Julie) Willoughby of Shepherd, and Jane (Ray) Clark of Beal City; 6 grandchildren Kyle Willoughby, Kaylie, Emily, and Carrie Willoughby; and Charlie (Mallory) Clark and Elton (Maggie) Clark; 2 great grandsons Elliot and Wesley Clark; siblings Sam Thering of Beal City, Tom (Ellie) Thering of Mecosta, Jeannie (Russ) Messersmith of Grand Rapids, Jim (Sara) Thering of Mt. Pleasant, Elizabeth Miller of Grays Lake, IL, and Patrick Thering of Mt. Pleasant; sisters-in-law Rose Marie Thering of Elsie and Connie Thering o Mt. Pleasant; and numerous nieces and nephews. Mary Lou is preceded by both her parents; brothers Joe and John “Jack” Thering; and in-laws Paula Thering, Ken Miller, Joyce Johnson Demlow, Clare Johnson, Ron Demlow, Janice Moore, and Gary Moore. Services for Mary Lou will be Wednesday, December 29 at 11 a.m. at St. Vincent de Paul Church with Father Fred Kawka officiating. There will be visitation on Tuesday, December 28 from 4 to 7:30 with a vigil service at 7 p.m. at St. Vincent de Paul Church. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made on behalf of Mary Lou to Mid Michigan Hospice or St. Vincent de Paul Church. The family would like to give a heart felt thankyou to Mid Michigan Hospice for their loving care of Mary Lou.
